New world records for GELLENTHIEN and VAN NATTA (USA)
Lausanne
In compound men, on his way to the 1st WAC qualifying position Braden GELLENTHIEN set a new world record in 1/8 elimination for the individual 15-arrow match, being the first to shoot a perfect score of 150 points (including 6x X10) in this format. GELLENTHIEN also held the last world record on a 12-arrow match with 120 points and 8x X10 at the Copenhagen World Cup Final 2009. With 15 arrows, the previous record of 149 points had been held by another American, Jesse BROADWATER, since the Arizona Cup in Phoenix back in April. GELLENTHIEN will be joined at the WAC by reigning world champion Reo WILDE and World Cup teammate BROADWATER.
On the women's side, Jamie VAN NATTA shot her way to the Gold Cup title and to a new world record in the individual 50m Round (72 arrows). With 702 points she beat the previous record of 700 set by Gladys WILLEMS (BEL) in a tournament in Almere, Netherlands back in April. Christie COLIN took the second WAC spot with a half-point lead over Kailey JOHNSTON. Together, the three American ladies will make up the compound women's team in Turin.
In the recurve division, Brady ELLISON, Jacob WUKIE and Joseph FANCHIN will round out the men's team in Italy, while Khatuna LORIG, Jennifer NICHOLS and Miranda LEEK clinched the three women's spots.
