India’s Growing Archery Success Prompts World Archery to Tender Broadcast Rights

India has shown growing success in archery in recent years and is expected to build on its 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games success with a strong showing in World Archery’s televised major events in the coming years.

Up-and-coming young female star Deepika KUMARI, winner of individual and team gold medals at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, is currently ranked #2 in the world.

On the men’s side, the team has consistently ranked in the top 5 in the world over the last 8 years, spearheaded by Jayanta TALUKDAR, who has made three appearances in the World Cup Final since 2006 and Rahul BANERJEE, individual gold medallist at 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Together with the compound teams, India’s archers amassed 8 medals at the Commonwealth Games.

The Archery World Cup takes place over four Stages followed by a Final, and begins mid-May in Shanghai. The World Archery Championships will take place in Antalya, Turkey in October. Live HD television coverage and highlights packages are available from each World Cup Stages and Final, and the World Championship.
