An edge before the crucial day of the Archery World Cup 2006!

Tomorrow is the elimination day at the World Cup Stage 4 in Shanghai. Nothing less than a semi-final in Shanghai should be enough to go to the Grand Final in Mexico. After the qualifications day in Shanghai let’s look at the ones who should have an edge in the individual elimination matches. Photo ©www.dutchtarget.com: Park Kyung Mo (KOR) Recurve Men The Koreans came in force with a trio on top : Lee Chang Hwan (663 pts), Park Kyung Mo, Im Dong Hyun. At second place, Park Kyung Mo came back strong at the end of the qualifications and is ready to it play all for the World Cup Final tomorrow. However, he must be ready to face Van Alten (NED) in the second round. Two matches will be very tense in the first round : Galiazzo (ITA) vs. Pieter Custers (NED) and Talukdar (IND) vs. Magana (MEX). If he goes through, the young Indian star will face the fresh European Champion Petersson (SWE) in a deadly 1/8 of final. At the same stage, the Italian Frangilli (11thseed) should face the number 6ththe Chinese, Yong Fujun. Recurve Women Same story as Korea also placed a trio at the forefront : Yun Ok Hee (670 pts), Yun Mi-Jin and Lee Tuk Young. However, only the last one is really contending for a place at the World Cup Final in Mexico. With the absence of Qian Jialing (CHN) due to an appendicitis operation, the best Chinese stands in 4th, Zhang Juan Juan. Tonetta (ITA) is in 8th, Williamson (GBR) at a tough 17th. Lionetti (ITA), Nasardize (TUR) and Porec World Cup winner Galinovskaya (RUS) will fight their way back from far behind. Dielen (SUI)won a 3rd arrow shoot-offover Arabi (IRI) for the 64th place. Compound Men His name may be Wilde but he stays as cool as a cucumber. Reo Wilde leads the World Cup and the qualifications today with 695 pts. Teammate Dave Cousins finished strongly reaching the second place with 691 pts. However, his draw is tough with Ruben Ochoa (MEX) in the 1/8 and probably Logan Wilde (USA) or Patrizio Hofer (SUI) in the quarter-final. Out of these 4 top competitors, only 1 will survive the draw and make it to Mexico. This category is the one where the matches will be the more intense for the top 4 places of the World Cup ranking. Tonight, Genet (FRA), 3rdseed, Jimenez (ESA), 5thseed, and Peter Elzinga (NED), 6thseed, may sleep with some more confidence. Photo ©www.dutchtarget.com: Amaya Paz (PHI) Compound Women This category may not be as straightforward as we thought. After the qualifications Almendra Ochoa (MEX) only ranked 11thand Davis (USA), 8th. The American may face teammate Van Natta (number 1 seed - 678 pts) in a quarterfinal that will cost a lot to the loser. Van Natta has had an edge in recent matches. The winner should meet Goncharova (RUS) in the semis. On the other side of the draw, Bastos (MEX), Paz (PHI), surprisingly 3rdin the qualifications and Hansdah (IND) may give a lot of troubles to Almendra Ochoa and World Cup leader Anna Kazantzeva (RUS).
