Four-time Olympian Aurora BRETON passes away in Mexico

The 65-year-old competed at four Olympic Games between Munich 1972 and Barcelona 1992, and finished ninth in the individual competition at Los Angeles 1984. She won five gold medals while representing Mexico at the 1986 Central American Games in Santiago de los Caballeros, and was presented with the National Award for Sport to recognise her achievements that year.

Aurora BRETON finished her competitive career with 10 medals at Central American Games and seven at Pan American Games, and is widely recognised as a pioneer of female elite sports participation in Mexico.

Aurora was also a highly-successful archery coach and an avid promoter of archery in the early ages when she was President of the Mexican Archery Federation. She commentated on the London Olympic Games for Mexican television, while watching her country pick up silver and bronze in the recurve women’s event.

World Archery and World Archery Americas' thoughts are with Aurora BRETON’s family at this time.
