Championships award 20 compound quotas for 2022 World Games

The 2021 Hyundai World Archery Championships also acted as the primary qualification tournament for the upcoming World Games, which were delayed from 2021 into 2022.

There were 20 quotas available in total – for the top 10 men and top 10 women (up to a maximum of two per nation).

The quarterfinalists in each category at the championships all won places for their countries.

The two excess spots for each gender were made available in a secondary tournament between the fourth-round losers – where Tanja Gellenthien, Alejandra Usquiano, Yang Jaewon and Jozef Bosansky emerged ahead.

Overall, archers from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, India, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Slovakia and Slovenia all took one or more quota places.

The results in Yankton meant places from the previous continental qualifier – the Europeans – had to be reassigned. Although the event in Antalya took place first chronologically, the Hyundai World Archery Championships were treated as the primary qualification event.

Denmark’s Tanja Gellenthien and Mathias Fullerton won spots at both tournaments – meaning their European invites could be reissued to the Netherlands and Germany.

Thirty-two of the 56 quota places for the 2022 World Games have now been assigned.

Continental qualifiers are scheduled in the Americas and Asia before the end of 2021, each awarding six spots, with the remainder to be distributed via the last world ranking list of the year.
