The 2025 World Archery Para Championships in Gwangju are getting closer – and with Chicago hosting the second and final leg of the debut Americas Para Cup, this week offers para archers one last chance to compete internationally before heading to Korea.

Top-ranked athletes in Illinois include world number one Nur Syahidah Alim, who won the compound women’s title at the Asian Para Championships in Beijing in July, and Kevin Polish, a two-time Para Pan American Games gold medallist in 2023 and winner of the opening Americas Cup stage in Morelia last month.

Although world ranking points are on offer, for many of the archers competing in Chicago, the event is about preparation and fine-tuning performances ahead of the biggest tournament of the year.

Chicago is hosting a World Archery event for the second time in 2025, following the indoor Great Chicago Open earlier this year. Dunbar Park sports complex will serve as the main venue.
