18-year-old Mila Fremery Delestan tops French recurve selection in surprise result

France has selected its recurve teams for the first international events of the 2026 outdoor season following national trials held from 17-20 March in Compiègne.

Eighteen-year-old Mila Fremery Delestan topped the women’s selection in a surprise result, finishing ahead of Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Lisa Barbelin.

The youth standout, who claimed silver in the under-18 category at the 2022 European Youth Championships and won the 2023 Indoor Archery World Series Youth Finals in under-21, will make her senior international debut with the French team following this selection.

Barbelin, one of the leading figures in French archery in recent seasons, also secured her place in the women’s squad for the opening events alongside fellow Paris 2024 Olympian Caroline Lopez. Olympic team silver medallists Baptiste Addis, Thomas Chirault and Jean-Charles Valladont form the men’s team.

The six archers will represent France at the European Outdoor Championships in Rome from the end of April.

Raphael Armand and Alexis Renaudineau will also make their Hyundai Archery World Cup debuts this season. Armand is set to compete in Puebla, while Renaudineau will take part in both Puebla and Shanghai alongside Addis and Chirault. Valladont will compete at the Shanghai stage.

On the women’s side, Amélie Cordeau will compete at both World Cup stages alongside the European Championships trio.

The selections follow a competitive process held in March, as France finalises its squads ahead of the first major outdoor competitions of the year.

France has also named its compound teams for the same events recently, with Anaëlle Florent among the standout selections following her recent switch from recurve.
