64 archery quota places allocated for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Archery pose for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee has confirmed the allocation of 64 archery places for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, with 32 boys and 32 girls set to compete in Senegal later this year.

A total of 38 National Olympic Committees have been allocated places under the Dakar 2026 participation principles, which prioritise universality, continental representation, strong African participation, host country representation, athlete performance, and gender equality.

Archery will feature boys’ and girls’ individual competitions, as well as a mixed team event, with an equal number of male and female athletes competing.

The allocation was determined using World Archery’s invitation system based on performances achieved during 2025 and participation in the World Archery Youth Championships in Winnipeg, before being finalised by the IOC.

Host nation Senegal has secured representation in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions, while African countries account for 15 of the 64 places allocated across the sport.

Places are awarded to National Olympic Committees rather than individual athletes, meaning final athlete selections will be confirmed at a later date.

Athletes must be born between 2009 and 2011 and achieve the required minimum qualification score to be eligible (boys – 615 (/554 for African athletes); girls – 605 (/545). Any unused places will be reallocated through the reserve process.

The Youth Olympic Games will be held in Africa for the first time in history, with Dakar becoming the first host city on the continent to stage an Olympic event. The Games run from 31 October to 13 November 2026.
