Top seeds Horackova, Abdullin claim Veronica’s Cup 2026 recurve titles

Kazakhstan’s Ilfat Abdullin and Czechia’s Marie Horackova secured recurve titles at the 2026 Veronica’s Cup in Kamnik as the tournament concluded with finals across all categories.

Both archers entered the event as top seeds and lived up to expectations, delivering strong performances throughout the eliminations and finals.

In the recurve men’s final, Abdullin defeated India’s Sachin Gupta to claim gold. Gupta had taken an early lead, but the top seed responded strongly to complete a 6-4 comeback win. Spain’s Yun Sánchez Antoku claimed bronze.

Horackova secured the recurve women’s title with victory over second seed Megan Havers of Great Britain, while Hungary’s Örkényi Lili took bronze. She also claimed mixed team gold alongside Matěj Špinar, with Hungary taking silver and Slovenia bronze.

Slovenia claimed recurve men’s team gold ahead of Great Britain and Spain, while Great Britain’s women’s team finished first ahead of Moldova and Spain.

In compound, India’s Priyansh clinched the men’s title after a composed final against Italy’s Elia Fregnan, having narrowly missed the top seed in qualification following a coin-toss tie-break. El Salvador’s Roberto Hernandez took bronze.

Italy’s Elisa Roner produced a standout finish in the compound women’s final, edging defending champion Meeri-Marita Paas of Estonia by a single point. Both archers were level through much of the match before Roner sealed victory with a perfect final end, while Paas dropped a crucial point with a nine 9.

Croatia’s Amanda Mlinaric secured compound women’s bronze after a tight win over compatriot Ivana Mavračić.

In team competition, Italy secured men’s gold, with Slovenia taking silver and Hungary bronze. Croatia won the women’s team title ahead of Italy and Kazakhstan. Italy also claimed compound mixed team gold ahead of Austria and Croatia.

The finals concluded a competitive edition of the Veronica’s Cup, with titles awarded across recurve and compound disciplines.
