Antalya 2026: Five archers to watch at the third stage of the World Cup

As the outdoor season reaches its peak, Antalya enters its second decade as a host city on the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit.

For the first time, the Gloria Sports Arena will host stage three of the 2026 season in southern Türkiye, welcoming the largest field of the year so far, with 332 archers from 42 countries.

Several nations are also using the event as preparation for upcoming multisport competitions, including the Asian Games and Mediterranean Games.

Antalya does not lack quality either, with all four current world number ones competing next week: Mathias Fullerton, Andrea Becerra,Marcus D’Almeida and Kang Chaeyoung. Reigning Hyundai Archery World Cup Final Champions Emircan Haney and An San are also in the field.

Those names are worth watching, but here are another five athletes to follow throughout the week.

Marco Morello aiming during the 2026 Spring Arrows tournament.

1. Marco Morello

Who? The Cortina 2018 World Archery Field Champion in recurve men from Italy.

Why? Marco Morello was once among Italy’s leading field recurve archers, representing one of the sport’s strongest nations on the black-and-yellow targets.

During his recurve career, Morello won seven medals at the World Archery Field Championships, most recently individual silver at the Lac La Biche 2024 edition, as well as mixed team gold at Yankton 2022.

He also attended six Hyundai Archery World Cup stages as part of Italy’s recurve squad, but for his seventh appearance in Antalya, the Italian finds himself competing in compound.

A rapid rise in the discipline – which he initially took up so his club in Turin could field a compound team at national events – has now seen him transition fully to compound archery. He already claimed bronze at the Swiss Open Lausanne in October 2025.

Can Morello win his first Hyundai Archery World Cup medal in compound?

Morello was part of Italy’s compound men’s team that won gold at the European Grand Prix Spring Arrows in Antalya in April.

Nur Syahidah Alim aiming at the Bangkok 2026 World Para Series.

2. Nur Syahidah Alim

Who? The ’s-Hertogenbosch 2019 World Archery Para Champion in compound women open from Singapore.

Why? When it comes to para archery, there are few athletes more accomplished than Alim. The 40-year-old has won multiple continental titles, including three Asian Championships gold medals and silver at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games.

The three-time Paralympian has also competed in able-bodied events since 2017 and appeared on the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit most recently in Paris in 2023.

Alim has already travelled extensively this season following the launch of the new World Para Series, where she secured bronze at the opening stage in Bangkok.

Can she translate her para success into a strong result in Antalya?

Alim has been Singapore’s sole representative at every Paralympic Games she has attended – Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

3. Nicholas D’Amour

Who? The recurve men’s champion at the 2026 European Grand Prix Spring Arrows representing the USA.

Why? With Brady Ellison absent from Antalya, a place opened in the USA recurve men’s squad travelling to Türkiye, giving D’Amour another opportunity on the international stage.

At 24, D’Amour already owns extensive experience, having competed at six editions of The Vegas Shoot, the last two Olympic Games and 16 Hyundai Archery World Cup stages, including the Yankton 2021 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.

Until now, D’Amour represented the U.S. Virgin Islands internationally – where he studied as a student – but Antalya marks his first Hyundai Archery World Cup appearance representing the USA.

He already performed strongly in Antalya earlier this year, winning the Spring Arrows tournament in April.

D’Amour attended every stop on the new-look Indoor Archery World Series apart from the Taipei Archery Open, finishing fifth overall.

4. Li Jiaman

Who? The Tlaxcala 2024 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final Champion from China.

Why? It was unusual not to see Li Jiaman in Shanghai last month during stage two of the 2026 season.

The 28-year-old has defended her place in one of the world’s deepest recurve women’s squads for years, winning medals at every level of international competition, including Asian Games bronze, four Hyundai Archery World Cup medals and Olympic team silver at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

For the first time in four years, however, Li did not make China’s top-three outdoor team for 2026 and therefore missed Puebla and Shanghai, as well as selection for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

She travels to Türkiye as China’s reserve fourth archer, but with only the individual competition to focus on, she could prove dangerous in Antalya.

Li won individual and mixed team gold at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Berkim Tumer aiming at the 2026 European Championships.

5. Berkim Tumer

Who? The Paris 2024 Olympic Games recurve men’s team bronze medallist from Türkiye.

Why? It would be difficult not to include at least one archer from the host nation given Türkiye’s strong start to the 2026 season.

Years of investment in youth development are beginning to deliver consistent international success across both recurve and compound disciplines.

Tumer is among the most promising names emerging from that system. The 24-year-old claimed his first individual Hyundai Archery World Cup podium in Shanghai, losing only to eventual champion Li Mengqi, while also finishing ahead of Mete Gazoz in qualification.

He also helped Türkiye secure two team silver medals in Shanghai and Puebla.

Competing at home – and in his third international event in Antalya this season – Tumer will hope to go one step further and claim a first individual Hyundai Archery World Cup gold medal.

Tumer defeated Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Mauro Nespoli on his way to bronze in Shanghai.
