Preview: South American archers line up for Santa Fe Games

South America’s leading archers will converge on Rosario next week as the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 bring the region’s best together, with continental titles and places at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games on the line.

The Games are being held across the Argentine cities of Santa Fe, Rosario and Rafaela, with more than 4000 athletes from 15 countries competing across 43 sports and 60 disciplines.

Archery will take place from 21 to 25 September at the Hipódromo Óvalo, in the heart of Rosario’s Parque de la Independencia.

For the archers, the competition offers more than regional honours. Four Lima 2027 quota places are available, with one place each in the men’s and women’s recurve and compound categories.

Brazil will arrive with world number one Marcus D’Almeida leading its recurve challenge. The three-time Olympian will be looking to go one step further than at Asunción 2022, where he took individual silver after losing to Colombia’s Jorge Enriquez in the final.

Enriquez returns to defend his title, setting up the possibility of another meeting between the two.

Brazil’s Ane Marcelle Dos Santos will also return to defend her recurve women’s title, while Colombia will again be a major force, led by defending compound women’s champion Sara Lopez. The multiple world champion won gold in the previous edition and returns to the Games after another strong international season, including bronze in Saltillo.

Colombia’s recurve line-up also features four-time Olympian Ana Maria Rendon and Santiago Arcila, while Pablo Gomez Zuluaga adds further strength to the compound team after finishing fourth at the Saltillo 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.

Argentina’s Ivan Nikolajuk will look to build on his home victory as he returns to defend his compound men’s title.

With Lima 2027 places available alongside the South American Games titles, Rosario promises another important contest for the region’s leading archers.

Pablo Gomez Zuluaga finished fourth at the Saltillo 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.
