Indoor World Championships Day 5 – Quotes of the Day

Nous avons interviewés les archers après ET avant les matchs…   Nami Hayakawa – JPN Gold Medallist
I expected to win the gold medal. I moved to Japan from Korea, three years ago, when I was 19 years old. I would like to shoot more and more. I hope to go to Leipzig but have to make it through our team selection when we have our trials in April and May.   Fatima Agudo – ESP Silver Medallist I felt very nervous during the match and my bow arm was shaking. Everything seemed to happen very quickly. I will go to the World Cups in Varese and Antalya, but I have two small children and I have to work so it is very difficult to find the time to do everything and I want to qualify for the World Outdoor Championships in Leipzig.   Eugenia Salvi – ITA Gold Medallist I really wanted to win the World Championships but my focus was only so-so. The noise of the crowd, especially from the Italian team, was a boost and I enjoyed hearing them cheering. I will go to all the World Cups and hopefully to Leipzig, if I qualify.   Jose Duo – ESP Silver Medallist During the match I didn’t feel relaxed and the American was a very strong competitor. Unfortunately I have to work so I won’t be able to go to the World Cups but I will try to be in Leipzig.   Sebastian Rohrberg – GER I have been doing a lot of target practice before I came to this competition and my shooting has been improving each day I have been in Izmir. I would like to replicate my success at the Outdoor but I am taking it step by step. I want to go to Leipzig and win a place for the team for the Olympics. I will also be going to the World Cups in Varese and Dover, and I will be competing at the European Field Championships so it is a busy year for me.   Markiyan Ivashko – UKR I felt a little bit nervous before the match and I knew that Rohrberg had been shooting very high scores in his previous matches, but I am a strong competitor so I went into it prepared for victory.   Braden Gellenthien – USA It feels wonderful to be the Champion and I will be washing my lucky shorts before I wear them the next time! I am going to 3 of the World Cups but I am studying marketing at university and have to attend classes so I will miss the first World Cup in Korea. I hope that we will be seeing the same team as we had here in Izmir at the World Outdoor Championships in Leizig.   Berengere Schuh – FRA I didn’t feel any more pressure from anyone else because I was considered the favourite. I only felt the pressure that I put upon myself as I wanted to repeat the win I had in the World Championships in 2003. I would like to go to all the World Cups and the World Championships in Leipzig.   Jamie van Natta – USA Team Gold Medallist It’s been a great Championships - obviously when you win the gold medal. When there is a time delay in the competition both teams are affected equally and so it isn’t to anyone’s advantage. I’m planning to go to all the World Cups and hopefully to the World Championships in Leipzig.   Sofia Gonchorova – RUS Team Silver Medallist It was a difficult match but the US women are a very strong team. I will be going to all the World Cups and the World Championships later in the summer.   Laure Barczynski – FRA Team Gold Medallist I am very happy because it is the 1st indoor international competition I have been to so it is a good way to start. This year I am going to take a break from Field competitions and concentrate on Target events.   Anja Hitzler – GER Team Silver Medallist My shooting felt good so I am not so disappointed. It was very exciting and lots of fun however my first few arrows felt a bit shaky, in fact they all felt shaky but it got easier throughout the match. I will be competing at the World Championships in Leipzig and at the World Cup in Antalya.   Dave Cousins – USA Team Gold Medallist We changed the order of the team for the last end because I wasn’t shooting good enough to anchor the team but we are comfortable enough with each other and trust each other enough to be able to change the order like this. I’m planning on doing two of the World Cups this year and I hope to make the US team for the Outdoor World Championships.   Pierre-Julien Deloche – FRA Team Silver Medallist I felt a lot of tension and stress especially with all the lights and cameras.  This is my first World Championships, in fact it is my first time on the French team so I am very pleased to win the Silver medal. I also enjoyed shooting with my team-mates as we had a very good feeling within the team.   Michele Frangilli – ITA Team Gold Medallist We had 2 days practice before coming here to Izmir and we had some practice together yesterday but we are the same team that shot in Alborg, two years ago so we understand each other. We shoot well together as a team but we still need to shoot well as individuals. The same team that won the Gold medal today will also be going to all the World Cups.   Jan Christopher Ginzel – GER Team Silver Medallist I am very happy to win the silver medal as it was a very tough match and it was also my first final at a World Championships. We don’t have much time to train together as a team as we live in different parts of Germany. I hope to qualify for the team to go to the World Championships in Leipzig and then win a place for the team for the Olympics.   Before the matchs, we asked the archers the following question in the morning : - What would a win here today mean to you? - Are you wearing/using anything which is ‘lucky’??   Fatima Agudo – ESP I have won the silver medal a lot of times in the past and have always looked at the first place with longing so it would make me very happy it I won today as I would have achieved my goal. I have no lucky clothes – I am not superstitious.   Naomi Folkard – GBR If I won the gold medal I would be very happy and it would take me to the next stage in my career as I would be moving up a level. I am wearing my lucky necklace and charm.   Nami Hayakawa – JPN I would be very, very, very happy if I won the gold medal. I am wearing the clothes and jewellery from my team mates for good luck.   Jose Duo – ESP A gold medal will be the best result for me – it will be incredible and give me lots of personal satisfaction. I am feeling lucky today, and I will also have with me a little dog, that was given to me by my son.   Sebastian Rohrberg – GER It would be very, very good to win the gold medal. In fact, it would be the best medal I have ever won and I’d be the happiest archer in the world. I have a lucky dinosaur in my pocket that was given to me by my girlfriend.   Markiyan Ivashko – UKR I will answer this question after the win. I wear a cross that I believe in.    Marco Galiazzo – ITA I would be very happy if I won since this is the only kind of competition I haven’t won yet, as I’ve only won indoor competitions as a junior. No, I don’t have anything lucky.   Braden Gellenthien – USA To win would be a really great end to the season. I had some equipment issues at the beginning of the year so if I won here it would cap of the end of the season for me. I’m wearing lucky underwear; red boxers shorts with white roosters all over them.   Eugenia Salvi – ITA It would be a dream come true if I won the gold as I have waited for this moment for a long time. I have been at the top level for a long time but this will be my first World Championship final. No, I have no lucky things, it is inside me.   Berengere Schuh – FRA I would be full of joy and happiness if I won and it would be a continuation of my wins at the 2003 World Indoor Championships and the 2006 European Indoor Championships. Also, I feel less pressure because I’m also guaranteed a medal in the team round. No, I’m not superstitious but sometimes if I have a score that is too high or too low in my previous match it can affect the way I think.   Alison Willimason FITA Communication
