5 November 2009 - FITA Coaching Seminar: shooting techniques
Lausanne
4th FITA World Coaching Seminar
Rome (ITA) - 5 November 2009
The second day of the 2009 World Archery Coaching Seminar was dedicated to the shooting techniques and coordinated by Nino ODDO, member of the FITA Coaches Committee.
Filippo CLINI (FITARCO Coach of the Men's Recurve National Team) presented the techniques used by the recurve archers, while Tiziano XOTTI did the same for compound archery. The presentations were highly effective, with both lecturers managing to cover the main technical skills in a limited period of time.
In the part concerning the recurve division, Filippo CLINI covered all the steps of the shooting sequence from the stance to the follow-through, including the breathing. He provided several practical examples and many illustrations to ease the understanding of the audience. For compound archery, Tiziano XOTTI mainly detailed how to set the proper draw length of an archer and the surprise release method. Because of the complex technology of the compound bow, several questions about the equipment were asked. Both lecturers also highlighted the importance of individualizing the technical and equipment choices.
FITA is pleased to notice a growing consensus on the technical principles among archery coaches from all over the world. The day ended with a sightseeing tour of the wonderful city of Rome.
