Mijno eyes fifth title as she tops recurve qualification in Rome

Roma Para 2

Italy’s Elisabetta Mijno took pole position in the recurve women’s field on qualification day at the Rome 2026 European Para Archery Championships with a 653, a full 23 points ahead of the second placed archer Ziva Lavrinc of Slovenia.

Mijno’s score was 12 points better than the round she shot at the Gwangju 2025 World Archery Para Championships, which also saw her top the field. Her teammate Stefano Travisani led the recurve men’s list with a 657. It gives the pair a bye directly into the recurve mixed team semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

It wasn't even the most dramatic lead of the day, as Sarka Pultar Musilova reinforced her dominance of women’s W1; her score of 652 was a full 37 points ahead of the second placed Victoria Kingstone. Musilova, who broke the indoor world record last month, is the reigning world champion and is only missing a Paralympic gold medal from her collection, but not before setting a ranking round world record at Paris 2024

Great Britain’s Nathan MacQueen topped the men’s compund field with 705 – a new national record – while the ebullient Oznur Cure Girdi edged the top seed position from AIN’s Anastasia Dzhioeva on X count after both scored 676 on the field. Aleksei Leonov of AIN took the W1 men's field with 677.

Today saw qualification in recurve, compound and W1, however VI qualification and eliminations will take place on Thursday afternoon.

The competition continues with individual eliminations on Wednesday afternoon.
