Campos Marzano dominates qualifying at Lima 2026
Peru’s Daniela Cecilia Campos Marzano dominated recurve qualifying at the Lima 2026 Para Pan American Championships, shooting a 600 to finish 36 points ahead of her nearest rival, Fabiola Dergovics of Brazil.
Marzano, who took bronze in this event two years ago, is coming off a win last week at the Santiago 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series and will be eyeing a title defence on home soil at next year’s Parapan American Games, also in Lima.
Mexico‘s Samuel Molina topped the recurve men‘s list with 647; the defending champion won gold at the 2024 Pan American Para Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.
2024 marked the first time that the para championships were hosted at an independent event from the non-disabled Pan American Championships, reflecting the growth of the sport across the Americas.
World number four Kevin Polish led the compound men’s field ahead of Ephraim Tonn-Bourg and Ben Thompson, making it a USA one-two-three atop a 21-strong field. Colombia’s Yasneide Peñaranda Acosta, a previous team gold medallist at this event, led the compound women’s field with 679.
Spencer Arnold of Canada topped the men’s W1 field on countback over teammate Daniel Comeau after both tied on 642, while the USA‘s Kimberly Garcia led the women’s field with 586. Garcia, just 19, debuted on the para circuit last year.
Brazil‘s Gustavo Mendes Araujo led the small visually impaired field with 422.
Competition at the Lima 2026 Para Pan American Championships continues on Friday with team eliminations and individual and team Parapan qualifiers.
