Another record breaking day for BROWN, as she sets the pace at the Euro Champs
Vichy – 11 August 2010
British archer Dani BROWN has set another world record on day one of competition at the European Para-Archery Championships in Vichy, France.
Dani’s qualifying score of 697 was a world best, and saw her top the women’s compound qualifying standings by 17 points from Sweden’s Zandra Reppe. Once again, all three GB compounders were among the leading contenders, with Pippa Britton qualifying in third place on 673, with Mel Clarke in seventh, with 656. It will come as no surprise to learn that the GB trio took top ranking for the team tournament. As did the GB men’s trio of John Stubbs, John Murray and Eric Thomas in the men’s compound event.
Individually, John Stubbs took fourth place, with 685 points, while John Murray was 13th (672), and Eric Thomas 15th (670). In the compound W1, John Cavanagh shot 641 to progress in fifth place. Dani and John Stubbs are also the top ranked pairing in the mixed compound tournament, while in the mixed recurve event, Kate Murray and Kenny Allen are third.
Kate qualified in seventh place in the W2 women’s recurve event, while in women’s standing, Kay Lucas went through in fifth, and Jemma Morris in 12th. Collectively they will go into the team event ranked third. The men’s recurve team of Paul Browne, Kenny Allen and Phillip Bottomley are also ranked three. Paul was fifth in qualifying in the men’s W2, while in recurve standing Kenny went through in third place with 626 points, 16 adrift of leader Timur Tuchinov of Russia. Phillip qualified in sixth, with Murray Elliott completing the GB interest in 15th place.
