It is with great sadness that FITA has learnt of the passing away of Mr Claude OLSEN (FRA) on 2 August 2010, aged 75 years old. Mr OLSEN was a FITA Honorary Judge and a former International Judge.
Claude OLSEN had an intense sports life and was Honorary Vice President of the French Archery Federation (FFTA). He became Honorary Judge of the International Archery Federation (FITA) in 2003 after serving as an International Judge since 1975.
In France he was awarded with the Youth and Sports Gold Medal title in 1989 (Bronze Medal in 1976 and Silver Medal in 1981). He was also honoured at the latest FFTA General Assembly with the Great Gold Medal, among other awards he received. Within FFTA, he was a Member of the Governing Body (1972-2000), Vice President (1984-2000), Office Member (1976-2000), and Member of the Sports Commission (1976-1996).
Mr OLSEN served both as a National and International Judge in several national, European and world championships, and also at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games. He was a Member and then the President of the National Judges Commission. He also was a Member of the Organising Committee for several European and World Championships held in France.
