10 March 2011 - 2nd "Coupe des Miss" and other charity activities
Lausanne
2nd "Coupe des Miss" and other charity activities
Issy-les-Moulineaux (FRA) – 10 March 2011
The second edition of the "Coupe des Miss" will take place on 19-20 March 2011 at the Palais des Sports Robert Charpentier in Issy-les-Moulineaux (FRA). This non-official competition of a fun and charity nature will see female participants from 13 to 70 years old (and older!) compete in recurve, compound and barebow. As last year the League against Cancer will be associated with this event and will receive a financial help dedicated to the fight against cancers that affect women.
The contenders, who will be more than 240 this year, will face each other in non-eliminatory groups in order to make discover to spectators how matches in sets format are run. A large number of prizes will be awarded to the winners for an overall amount of 2,500 Euros.
Spectators will have the chance to see big names of archery taking part in the tournament: several members of the French team, including Marina NAYROLE and Alexia DELOISON in recurve or Valérie FABRE in compound. Other foreign top seeded players will be present, such as Zane BERZINA (LAT) and Louise LAURSEN (DEN), World Indoor Challenge 2011 winner in recurve and Albina LOGINOVA (RUS), World Cup 2010 winner in compound.
This project was made possible thanks to the City of Issy-les-Moulineaux, GPSO, the Région Ile de France, le General Council of Hauts de Seine and the Archery Regional Committee of Ile-de-France. Furthermore, the archery world community has joined together with this event: Bohning, BEITER, Arc Systeme, Dixis, Sébastien Flute Archery, Sky Art as well as France Archerie, will all support the winners of the Coupe des Miss 2011. Other partners, including TILDE SPORT, M.FM radio and GRAPHORIZON, will contribute towards this event for the first time.
First event of this type, the 100% female competition will be dedicated, as the previous one, to the fight against cancer. Unique and original, it little by little comes within the scope of the national competitions' scene.

Other charity activities in archery
The Coupe des Miss is the second event linked to archery to get involved in the fight against cancer. The first action was launched by Brady ELLISON (USA) with his "Shoot for the Cure" campaign for which he raises funds for the fight against breast cancer pledging money for every 10 or X10 he shoots during the season. Susan G. KOMEN's website allows other archers to join together with the cause by creating fund-raising "groups".
It is for example the method that the American archer Bryan L. PERRY has chosen, creating his own group to support the cause. He has chosen to "sell" the Xs he shoots during his indoor season. For some competitions, he has raised more than USD 10 for each X he shot. During the World Archery Festival in February 2011 in Las Vegas, PERRY's cause was joined by some French archers present on sight, among them Thomas AUBERT and Grégory KREJ, to support PERRY as well as the "Shoot for the Cure" campaign.
