IOC President ROGGE: “Congratulations, archers”
Antalya
Count Jacques ROGGE delivered his message before the medal ceremonies; he was “pleased to give you the greetings of the International Olympic Committee. We have come with a strong delegation to discover your wonderful sport on the nice beach of Antalya. First I would like to congratulate all of you for making this event a success, especially the public authorities, the Organising Committee, the Turkish Archery Federation and FITA. I also would like to thank the athletes, because they are the stars of an event. I would like to thank the sponsors and I would like to give a special thank to the volunteers, without which the event would not be possible. The volunteers truly deserve a round of applause!”
“Dear athletes, we admire the way you adapted to a very strong side wind on the competition field today and we are astonished with the performances you have accomplished. I can assure everyone that you will have less wind in the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, which will be the archery venue for the 2012 Olympic Games. I wish you the best for your preparation and your qualifications for the Games.”
President ROGGE watched the competition today alongside Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER, FITA President and IOC member.
