Count Jacques ROGGE – IOC President Archery is one of the sports with the longest tradition. It is very difficult to practice but simple to understand. I like this venue design on the beach of Antalya and I think such design, such competition help for an outstanding promotion of the sport.   On a related note, I believe Istanbul, and Turkey, has all what it needs to be a candidate for the Olympic Games. It has a dynamic, young population, it has infrastructure and sports have the support from the Public Authorities. Now it is up to the city to choose if it wants to be a candidate for the Games.   Recurve Men   Jean-Charles VALLADONT (FRA) – Gold in teams We are following the way we set for ourselves and we hope it will lead us to the top. I think we have all that we need. It will be a matter to be strong on the D-Day. Compared to 2009, we have more experience; we are shooting higher scores both at practice and during competitions. Since the last two years, the three of us, with Gael (PREVOST) who joined the team, we have been training everyday together at the INSEP (France Sports National Institute). And I have been shooting with Romain (GIROUILLE) for six years. we have been at the Beijing Games together. We have also been European Champion and vice world champion in 2009 together with Thomas AUBERT. We hope for great things!   Jayanta TALUKDAR (IND) – Silver in mixed teams We had the beginning of the storm during the mixed team final and it was tough. The wind was not the same as on the warm-up field. It was changing, sometimes left, and sometimes right. I was confused for a while. I adapted my sight but it took me a few arrows and we lost some precious points. At the end I shot better, but we could not come back in the score. In India, we have hardly any wind at our training centre, and when there is some, it is only from the right. It is not so challenging.   Recurve Women   KI Bo Bae (KOR) – Gold in teams and bronze in mixed teams Again, the conditions were difficult today. Especially for the recurve women, when we got a real storm! It was raining so hard. I told my teammates to aim bit higher than usual because the rain could drop the arrows a bit down during the fly. It worked well and maybe the fact that we shoot quite strong bows in the team (42-44 pounds) gives us also a bit of an advantage. I also told them to shoot with confidence. We need to depend on one another and cheer for each others.   I am very honoured to have received my mixed team medal from the IOC President. Maybe it will never happen again. I will cherish this moment.   Deepika KUMARI (IND) – Bronze in teams and silver in mixed teams This is the first time Ishoot in such rainy conditions. But anyway, rain or not, we just have to shoot. It was really special but I actually enjoyed it!   Compound Men   Martin DAMSBO (DEN) – Silver in teams Well the third time was not lucky charm, since it is the third time we lose a final against the USA in two years, and the second in a month. However let’s hope there will be a fourth time lucky charm, which would mean we would be world champion in Turin. Today at least we got lucky to avoid the storm when we where shooting. More seriously, we have a good team and it is fun to shoot with these guys. We just hope to keep it running until the world championships.   Sergio PAGNI (ITA) – silver in mixed teams, bronze in teams I like the new rules: 50 metres with cumulative scoring and with 15 arrows per match are fine for me. I shot very well during the week, and I set up a new European Record, tied wit Dominique GENET from France, during the qualifications.   I also like very much that the mixed team are officials and will be awarded medals at the upcoming world championships in Turin. You know, I have won many medals at the World Cup and the European Championships, but never during a world championship. I think we are competitive in individuals, teams and mixed teams so I really hope to get a medal in Turin. Just one gold would be perfect, but I’ll take any medal.   Seppie CILLIERS and Llyod REEDERS (RSA) – 4th place Seppie: This time we came ready for the wind. I realized yesterday that we needed to have the option to pull the trigger with the thumb. We worked on the front release, even as Llyod has never shot like this before. It was actually his first international competition and he did very well, all the way from the qualifications to today’s team bronze final. The 230 points we shot was actually our best score for the week. It is quite high for a final field, but Italy was a bit better today and obviously we know that they are one of the strongest teams in the field. From a psychological point of view, we have had a very good week and we will carry this confidence to the world championships in Turin. Although there will be some teams there like Australia, New Zealand or El Salvador, we will be hoping for a medal. If we get the lines with us, if the arrows just go in the 10-ring when it is needed, we have a chance.   Llyod: This week was a superb experience for me. Now all I want is a medal at the world championships.   Compound Women   Jamie VAN NATTA (USA) – Gold in teams We the wind conditions were less challenging than yesterday. And since, we shot at the fairly beginning of the program; we did not get any rain. Yesterday the wind could move your whole body/front arm. Today it just had some influence on the arrow fly.   Today we shot with Kailey JOHNSTON in the team but for the world championships she decided to let her place to Erika ANSCHUTZ. So Erika, Christie COLLIN and myself will shoot at the worlds. We have been shooting for a while together and we are capable of shooting very well.   In Turin, I would say our main opponent will be Russia once again. We have faced them a lot in the last five years and probably we are a bit on the downside in the terms of victory. I hope this will be chance to catch up. There are however many others team that can pretend to a medal including Iran, Mexico and Venezuela.   Olga BOSCH (VEN) – Bronze in teams It is good to be back at the highest level and I feel like I can still compete with the best. We have had a strong 2009, but we could not perform so well in 2010. So it is good to be back and win a medal here. I think we will have a good chance in Turin. We will have a complete team with a men squad as well. We have a strong team spirit together and will also help us.   World Archery Communication
