Flash Quotes from Recurve Men's Qualification
Turin – 5 July 2011
Today was the qualification day for recurve men. After the first distance (90m) we asked some archers and coaches about their feelings and results.
Laurence GODFREY (GBR)
We are not happy about the team results. However, this is a nice venue, we have nice weather conditions, and the shooting is okay. Just okay! But we are only at one quarter of the competition.
Boris VASILYAN (ARM), Coach In general it could be better. We have a very young archer in our team, his result is not high enough and he needs more experience. I cannot say anything about the chances yet, it will be much clearer after the 70m distance. Constantin CHRISTODOULOU (CYP) It could have been better. But there is always another arrow to be shot. So we will see at the end of the round! Guy NATZKIN (ISR) We are shooting in very good conditions. I know that my results can be higher. We have a lot of top archers here. I am on the same butt as Mauro NESPOLI (ITA), and I can see his high level of shooting. It is really good. We still have three more distances to go, so let’s see! Rene Filippe KOUASSI (CIV) I am very happy to be here for the first time with my team, taking part in such a big international event. I thought I would have felt more pressure, but I am quite calm. I must thank our coach because he gave us the "tools" to shoot well, both equipment and knowledge, because for us it is difficult and expensive to travel around the world.
Gregor RAJP (SLO) I cannot find the right way of shooting, I did not shoot well. It is the longest distance. There was a light wind. My arrows did not fly in the way I expected… I will do my best in the other three distances. Alexandr KOZHIN (RUS) The result I have is not the result I am able to shoot. I know what I can do. I will do my best! We have a good team. I will try not to let them down. Vladimer LEKVEISHIVILI (TUR), Coach It is a very good day for shooting. The team result is not bad. One of our archers did not shoot well, although the team is prepared for this competition. We will have a long day today. I hope it will be lucky for us!
