Quotes from the compound finals

Patricia TCHEPIKOFF (FRA) – 4th Compound Women Team
I am disappointed because our training went well and we did not feel pressure but everything became harder in the first end ; we obviously were a little bit tense. Overall I am not satisfied with my competition except for one of my individual rounds. I will do better next time.

Diane WATSON (USA) – Coach, Gold Medal Compound Women Team
It is awesome to share this experience with my teammates as a coach. We’ve been a team for a year and a half and it is a great experience to be on the other side. In fact I was shooting for gold here last year and I am just as happy as I was then.

Dominique GENET (FRA) – 4th Compound Men Team
I cannot say that we are happy with 4th place. We shot well but our opponents were just stronger. We hadn’t made a final in a long time so it is good to be back, especially in such a beautiful venue. The whole competition was very well organised, in a very professional way.

Simon ROUSSEAU (CAN) – Silver Medal Compound Men Team
Of course, it would have been better to win the gold but we are happy with the silver. I felt pressure in the first end, but then it was OK. It is quite hard to shoot in front of this crowd, screaming for a long time at each end of 30 for the Americans. They had the advantage to shoot at home.

Laura LONGO (ITA) – Bronze Medal Compound Women Individual
I am really happy with this medal, because it was what I expected from this competition. My qualifications were not so good due to a problem in my shooting form. I chose to focus on my technique during the elimination rounds and fortunately, the arrows were in!

Marcella TONIOLI (ITA) – Gold Medal Compound Women Individual
This final was totally stressful! I felt a lot of pressure and also had some issues because of the light, as I could not see the peep anymore. I was not really confident after my opponent shot a 9 in the shoot-off, but I selected my arrow, the number 10, and did not expect anything but a 10 from it.

Rodger WILLETT JR. (USA) – Gold Medal Compound Men Individual photo
It is a big blessing from God to win this third World Cup in a row here in Ogden! I am not sure what happened to Braden with his first arrow, bit I think it did not really affect me. I really wanted this victory but not that way!
