High performances in Compound Mixed Teams

 
The compound mixed team’s competitions showed some very high performances. Canada shot 157 points in the first round (out of 160), France had 158 in the semifinals and the USA did the same for the bronze medal match. However, Italy still holds the world record as they were the first to shoot 158 points at the Turin world championships.   Mixed teams play matches of 4 ends of 4 arrows at 70 metres for recurve and 50 metres for compound.  Recurve Mixed Team Netherlands and Russia played a tight match in the first round. Netherlands took a good lead in the first end, 39-34. The wind started blowing hard at the end of the second end, which caused troubles to both teams. Russia had 10-10-9-3. Netherlands scored 7-8-10-4 and still led 68-66. They kept a 1-point lead after 12 arrows, 103-102. However, Netherlands dropped another arrow in the 4 in the last end (X10-9-4-X10). Russia jumped onto the occasion with 9-8-9-9 to win the match 137-136. India was in troubles all over the game against Kazakhstan. They just managed to tie the match at the end (32-38, 67-69, 102-107, 137-137). In the shoot-off, India scored 9-7. The No. 12 Kazakhstan scored 9-8 to advance to the next round!   In quarterfinals, Kazakhstan raised their level another notch. However, they just came short against the No. 4 seed France, 38-37, 74-72, 108-112, 145-146. China also played a strong match against Great Britain, 36-39, 74-75, 112-112, 149-148.   The Chinese team could not pass Japan in the semifinal. They shot a 5 in the first end, which killed their ambitions. Japan won 38-33, 77-70, 112-109, 149-144. In the other semifinal, USA beat France 39-37, 73-74, 113-108, 151-146.   Unfortunately for them, China could not get the bronze “at home”. France dominated the bronze medal match 37-34, 75-71, 110-104, 149-141.   USA and Japan will play for gold on Saturday in the Shanghai town centre by the riverside!  Compound Mixed Team Canada shot a very high score in the first round! They beat Australia 40-40, 79-75, 118-113, 157-151!   The Canadian however could not pass the current world record holder, Italy, in the quarterfinals. The match was tight, but the Italians had the last word 39-39, 79-77, 117-114, 156-153!   In the semifinal, France tied the world record in the way to beat Italy! The French team won 39-39, 79-78, 118-117, 158-156. In the other semifinal, the No. 4 Mexico upset the No. 1 USA, 40-36, 79-76, 118-115, 156-155.   During the bronze medal match, it was the turn of the USA to score 158 points!
