From riverside to archery venue!

It all starts with some creative ideas from organisers and World Archery on where we could host finals. We have surely been creative over the years. It actually started with the World Championships 2003 in New York Central Park, then at the ancient Panathinaiko Stadium for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. It continued with the World Cup Final 2006 at the Mayapan Pyramids (MEX) and the 2007 edition in Dubai (UAE). In the Emirates, FITA built a 70-meter floating platform on the Madinat Jumeirah Lake with the famous 7-star hotel Burj Al Arab in the background.   Since 2008, the special concept was implemented for all the FITA events! The World Cup took place in the “Oldest Fort of the New World” in Santo Domingo (DOM). Then the archers stopped by the Marina in Porec (CRO) and they shot on the beach in Antalya (TUR). The more recent locations include the western part of the USA in Ogden (UT), the famous Nyhavn Canal in wonderful Copenhagen (DEN) and the Gardens of Edinburgh (GBR). This week is the turn of Shanghai riverside and city centre to showcase itself in archery event. Let’s see in pictures how it is done from sketches, operations to a world class venue!   World Archery Communication
