Recurve Men   Mel NICHOLS (USA) – Coach - About the performance of the US Team in Shanghai The team performed very well, all of our athletes got prepared really hard for this World Cup. Joe FANCHIN shot awesome. He is having a good time as far as he qualified for Istanbul. So I’m really proud of him. He is the new rising star in the US team, he worked really hard. You can see that it’s really paying off.  Mitch DIELEMANS (NED) – Individual 4th It’s been very exciting. It was really nice to shoot in such a nice place. The pressure was pretty high because this is my first World Cup bronze final with the “adults”. I feel glad for sure but my shooting was not good enough. This is a good World Cup for me after all.   Recurve Women   Bérengère SCHUH (FRA) – Individual 2nd Well, as my coach said, it is kind of a good loss. Contrary to what happened in Torino where I did not really reach my highest level of accuracy and shooting, I was really feeling better there. I did a good job, for sure it has not been easy and I was shaking from time to time, but I managed to shoot good arrows… My opponent shot well too and she succeeded better than I did. I am feeling quite happy as I have had some strong performances in the international circuit since the month of July. There’s still a lot to do until 2012 by the way.   Recurve Mixed Teams   Kathuna LORIG (USA) – Gold medal with Brady ELLISON (USA) – About the strength of the US recurve mixed team. We are just confident and we practice a lot. How to tell you? It’s MY team you know, we just do well, always looking in a positive way. We do know each other really well and this is what makes our team being so strong. We think POSITIVE!   Compound Mixed Teams   Benoit BINON (FRA) – Coach – About the defeat of the French mixed team in the gold medal match. At the start of the match, both teams were under pressure. Pierre-Julien made a shooting mistake on the first end, so did the Mexican archer. Perhaps they took an advantage on us at this time but the French team performed well. It’s not one of our best matches so far but there’s at least a silver medal for us and this is the most important thing to consider. It’s also their first medal on a World Cup for this pair of athletes.   Compound Men Teams Rodger WILLET (USA) –About the Compound US Team, the rising nations in compound archery (India, Korea, Iran for example) and his season in the 2011 Archery World Cup. I think the competition starts at home because there are so many good shooters in the US, so close from each other in terms of skills and performance. It’s just pushing ourselves to work harder… We have six tournaments at home beside the World Cup and we are just trying to beat each other constantly. It pushes you to get better and better. If you can’t deal with this, you ought to not to come here.   These nations are very-very-very good. They are shooting awesome scores, very competitive match plays. I think they have a bright future, they are doing great already. They take one more step and they are going to be really good. I am really disappointed that Iran could not come here; they have been shooting so well that I really wanted to see them here in Shanghai. They are in a really great position and they deserve it.   In individuals, I am really disappointed with my defeat in Shanghai. I really wanted to make four victories in a row. I tried, really. When it started to rain during the elimination rounds, I was shooting on the left and I over-corrected my sight. I struggled in this match; the other, good, side of it is that it helped Reo (WILDE) to get in the final today and he for sure made a show! I am disappointed about my defeat and I am happy for Reo at the same time.   Jean-Denis GITTON World Archery Communication
