Brady ELLISON (USA) – gold medallist (2nd time in a row after his title in Edinburgh)
I am getting more experienced and it helps. In the semifinal match I didn’t shoot well (too much on the left) but I could make the adjustments for the final. I felt good during the final. I did hold a couple of shoots a little too long, hoping the wind would come down, but that is OK.
I hope to keep this year going into next year. I am undecided as to whether I will shoot the World Cup stages or if I will just train home all the time. The Olympic Games are so important. Anyway I will keep training the same way and push myself to the little details. Although I am winning tournaments, I still think I can shoot better.
DAI Xiaoxang (CHN) – silver medallist
I am fairly young, 20 years old, and I enjoyed very much competing in this World Cup Final. The wind was strong at time. The Olympic Games are next year, so I don’t think too much about it now, but of course I will do my best to qualify in the Chinese team.
Dmytro HRACHOV (UKR) – bronze medallist
I was 20 years old back in 2004 and I won a team bronze medal at the Athens Olympic Games. It felt like a dream. Since then, I had a lot of problems with my shoulder. It has been better for the last two years. I shot well at the Ulsan World Championships two years ago and last season as well. On one side, I am bit surprised to qualify to the World Cup Final and finish 3rd, but on the other side I was hoping for it. Now I hope this is not my last medal, especially with the Olympic Games coming up!
Gael PREVOST (FRA) – 4th
I am very happy that I arrived so far. In fact, I came to Istanbul in 4th position and I stayed in 4th position. However, 4th place at the World Cup Final, it is good! I would have never thought to qualify for the World Cup Final at the beginning of the season. It was already difficult to qualify for the French team! Today, I am also so glad to have beaten the Korean OH Jin Hyek in quarterfinals. In semifinal and in the bronze final, I shot well technically. However, I am lacking a bit power in the wind.
I still need to work a lot, specially physically. I am not thinking about the Olympic Games. There is still a lot to do to get there. I am really taking it step by step.
Recurve Women
CHENG Ming (CHN) – gold medallist
I am bit on a roller coaster. I was 2nd at the Asian Games last year, but I did not qualify in the Chinese team for the World Archery Championships in Turin that took place in July. Then I won the Ogden World Cup Stage in August, but I was disappointed with my result at the Shanghai stage at the beginning of September. So I was even more eager to go to Istanbul and win the World Cup Final. It was important for me. I really focus very hard on my training since Shanghai and it paid off!
Berengere SCHUH (FRA) – bronze medallist
(With a big smile). I am very happy, I beat two Korean archers today! I did not shoot well in my semifinal, but I pulled myself together for the bronze match. We will concentrate now on the London Test Event for the Olympic Games next week, but anyway it has been a great season, specially after that I injured again my right shoulder at the beginning of the season.
