Brady ELLISON is the Athlete of the Year 2011

Facebook polls have been held on the World Archery Facebook Page in December in order to determine who, among the Athletes of the Week, should be the Athlete of the Year 2011.

The 23-year-old American archer Brady ELLISON was the clear winner. The list of ELLISON’s honours and achievements from 2011 is impressive: ELLISON became the first recurve male archer to win three consecutive World Cup stages (Porec, Antalya and Ogden); the first recurve male archer to win all three gold medals (individual, team and mixed team) at a World Cup event; and the first recurve archer to win two consecutive World Cup Final gold medals (Edinburgh and Istanbul); he won a gold medal at the London Olympic Test Event, beating the top archer from Korea IM Dong Hyun; he concluded the year with individual and team gold medals at the Pan American Games. The only individual gold medals that ELLISON failed to capture in 2011 were the Shanghai World Cup stage, and the World Archery Championships in Turin, where the American earned “only” the bronze medal. The No. 1-ranked male recurve archer in the world, ELLISON certainly is on target for good things to come in 2012.
