2 February 2012 - Intensive Training Camp and Level III Coaching Education in Namibia

Intensive Training Camp and Level III Coaching Education in Namibia Lausanne – 2 February 2012  From 7-15 January 2012, and intense training camp (ITC) took place in Windhoek, Namibia. It was conducted by Josef PREISSER, Federation of African Archery (FAA) Coach Chairman and level III coach. The event gathered 21 archers, from the compound and recurve disciplines, aged 10 to 52, and combined all levels from beginners to advanced archers.   Concurrently, Josef PREISSER held a coach clinic for Marja WOORTMAN, to also become a level III coach after she has passed the level I and level II coach exams in December 2009 and December 2010, respectively. The latter passed her exam on 16 January 2012, achieving excellent results. The Archery Association of Namibia can be proud to have such a dedicated and excellent coach among them.   The camp was taking place from 08:00 to 14:30 every day in an excellent environment, and the weather was excellent for both parties. However, it was rather exhausting for the archers. Their training rhythm suddenly increased and challenging, as they were not use to shooting so many arrows per day, especially during practice sessions. They shot different shooting forms for a few days on short distances, and the camp was an eye-opener for most on how to improve and reach higher scores.   The theoretical sessions covered various topics, such as nutrition, doping, relaxation techniques, mental training, kinesiology, various possible situations for a coach when participating in international events, and much more. Detailed explanation on equipment was also given on topics such as basic tuning, fine tuning and ultra-fine tuning, etc.    Dr Josef A PREISSER & World Archery Development Department
