Looking for host of 2013 World Archery Coaching Seminar
Lausanne – 3 April 2012
World Archery will organise the 6th World Archery Seminar in 2013. Below are some preliminary details about this important event. Anyone wishing to host this seminar is invited to contact World Archery by 30 June 2012.
The World Archery contact person is Mr Pascal COLMAIRE, Development and Education Director: pcolmaire@archery.org.
Expected host profile:
Several types of host could make this seminar a success:
* Experienced organisers of archery events
* A country that has a high level or tradition of archery.
Note: It is expected that such a host will share its knowledge and know-how’s with the participants.
* A host who can partly or entirely sponsor this seminar.
Of course a combination of these profiles would be fantastic.
Format of the seminar:
It will depend on the host’s profile, but keep in mind that the goal of this seminar is to improve / refine the coaching skills, knowledge and know-how’s of the participants. Anything that you can propose towards this goal will be considered with the highest attention.
The last three World Archery Coaching seminars were hosted by strong archery nations; hence the formats have been set in order that the main experts from these nations present their concept, and way of working, to the participants.
If you do not have such a high level of expertise, WA will consider two alternatives:
* An international congress formula, with invited speakers presenting their concept and/or know-how, following by an open talk
* A workshop type, with one or two specific themes to be approached and deeply discussed by different speakers, and with some round table discussions of general interest.
Note:
A visit to an archery equipment manufacturer is usually highly appreciated by the participants.
A mixture of these formats could also be considered.
Dates:
There are no specific dates yet, hence it is negotiable. The seminar will last 4 days.
As the coaches may have not many week-ends available, the period including travel and seminar should not include more than one week-end.
For instance if the participants arrive on a Monday, they can travel back during the following week-end. On another hand, if the participants arrive during a week-end, they must leave by the following Friday at the latest.
The period including travel and seminar should be scheduled out of the competitive period. A suggestion would be to hold the seminar sometime during the period from mid-October until mid-December.
Required facilities:
To properly organise this seminar, you mainly need:
* A registration / administration room, fitted with the usual registration devices: computers, accreditation card unit and supplies, printer, photocopier
* A conference hall for about 70 participants furnished with:
- The appropriate number of seats
- A video projector
- A wireless connection
- An audio system
- Ideally all items for simultaneous translation
* An accommodation centre nearby, with bedrooms and restaurant. Ideally it should be in the same complex as the conference hall.
A sport or university complex would be fine, since the coaches are used to these types of accommodation. Furthermore they offer an affordable rate.
Some single rooms will be requested, while the majority will be double rooms, few triple rooms could also be asked for. About 70 persons will have to be accommodated.
* An archery range nearby would also be useful for practical sessions.
Required services:
The following will be necessary:
* Assistance for visa acquisition; required before the seminar.
* Local transport:
- From airport to seminar site and back.
- A half day of sightseeing.
* Simultaneous translation:
Most of the participants can speak English, nevertheless some experts cannot. Hence such a service would be of a great assistance to the audience. Nevertheless due to the high cost of this service, an alternative could be considered.
Budget:
For any need of financial information, do not hesitate to contact the WA office (see the introduction chapter for contact details). Be aware that the participants will be charged an entry fee that we will be set in agreement between WA and the selected host, taking into account that:
* The participants will have to cover their travel, accommodation and meal costs
* The need to cover the organisation cost.
Anyone wishing to host this seminar is invited to fill in the Bid Questionnaire & Information Document or contact Mr Pascal COLMAIRE, World Archery Development and Education Director at pcolmaire@archery.org by 30 June 2012.
