Quotes of the Recurve Qualifications

Karina WINTER (GER)   JANG Young Sool – Korean Head Coach Antalya is just a checkpoint for us before the London Games. As we are not going to Ogden, we now have to eliminate one athlete for women and one for men here in Antalya.   Recurve Men   IM Dong-Hyun (KOR) – 1st I started the first half with 59-59-59 and thought that I could reach 350 points, but I made a mistake in the fourth end. However, in the fifth end I shot a perfect 60 and ended with 351 points. In the second half, I felt like I could break the world record, but the weather conditions were not favourable and made it difficult to shoot well. I felt like I need to shoot offensively in order to set a new world record. I always felt more comfortable with shooting the 72 arrows at 70 metre than any other competition format. I have been the world record holder in that event since 2004.   Michele FRANGILLI (ITA) – 7th  I shot well, finished in 7th place and am happy with it. I shot the same score as I had these last two weeks in practice. We are currently five archers in a position to get on the Italian Olympic team and the outcome of this competition will play a role in the selection. My goal is to win, as always.   Recurve Women   Alejandra VALENCIA (MEX) – 7th I shot well given the weather conditions. I could have shot much worse. For our team it’s a way to prepare for Ogden, because the team round there will serve as qualification to the Olympic Games.   Maja Buskbjerg JAGER (DEN) – 15th I shot okay. I was very much up and down with my scores. I wish had been up all the time! I always hope to improve my ranking in the finals. I know how to shoot well. I just have to try to do it all the time.   Karina WINTER (GER) – 18th It was sometimes good and sometimes difficult. I have some difficulties when the wind started to blow, but I think I did good today. Our team hasn’t qualified any archer to the Olympics as of now, and we will try to win three spots in Ogden. This competition here is a good preparation for Ogden, it will help us gain confidence and we hope to do well!   World Archery Communication
