Quotes of the Compound Qualifications

Compound Men  Reo WILDE (USA) – 1st It was a good round. After I shot 359 in the first half I wanted to beat my own world record again. Anyway, 712 is still the best result for today. There’s a long way to the finals of Saturday. The important thing is to shoot well because you never know what can happen during matches.   Peter ELZINGA (NED) – 2nd   I’m really happy with the way I shot today. I have changed something in my release which is helping a lot, and also I’m more physically fit. I don’t have any goals or expectations, I will just try to do my best, shoot every arrow the best that I can, and have fun! We’ll see where it leads.   Martin DAMSBO (DEN) – 3rd   For once it went well, the weather was good, not too warm, with not too many clouds, and not too much rain. Because of that the scores are high overall on the field. I’ve shot my first competition here in Antalya 10 years ago. I’ve been here so many times that it feels like home. I don’t know if it gives me confidence, but it sure helps me relax. Anyway you’re never better than the last time you had the bow in your hand. That’s always a work in progress.   Sergio PAGNI (ITA) – 4th    Finally I'm back in the top 8 after the qualification round. This gives me more confidence for the next rounds of this event. My goal was to score as many points as possible, and be pre-seeded in the 1/16 elimination to make my task easier. I won in Antalya in the past and I would like to repeat that performance.   Pierre Julien DELOCHE (FRA) – 8th    I took my revenge on Dietmar TRILLUS: in Las Vegas we had a shoot-off and we both shot a 10, but his was closer to the centre than mine. Today we both shot a 10 again, but mine was an X10, while his was just a 10. I'm really satisfied with my performance: one of the goals that I have for this season is to be in the top 8 in every phase of the competitions that I take part in; until now, I have achieved this result and I can do it at the Antalya World Cup, too.   Compound Women   Albina LOGINOVA (RUS) – 1st I shot well today. It’s the first time that we have good weather on this field (laughs). The conditions were good, everything was OK. After the World Cup stage 1 in Shanghai, I competed in the Russian National Championships, where I placed 3rd. After that I took a little rest. Now I’m feeling good!   Kristina BERGER (GER) – 6th I was really nervous. My score was tied with that of the leader after the first half. Unfortunately I shot a miss in the second part and as a consequence dropped in the ranking. I guess tomorrow’s competition won’t be easy at all, but being in 6th position will help a lot because I will have a bye in the first two elimination rounds, and will only start shooting from the 1/16 round.   Daisy CLARK (GBR) – 29th It’s my first time in a World Cup. My teammates are awesome and I really enjoy shooting with them. Overall the results of this competition are good, and I’m happy because I shot my personal best in this event.   World Archery Communication
