Para Archery Test Event concludes in London
Compound Women Open Gold Medal Match
The men’s W1 and men’s compound open classes took centre stage on the final day of the Paralympic Test Event. Spectators were treated to two very exciting gold medal matches pitting the reigning world champion against the reigning Paralympic champion in both classes. In compound men W1 David DRAHONINSKY of the Czech Republic out shot Osmo KINNUNEN of Finland, 7-1. And Philippe HORNER of Switzerland bested John STUBBS of Great Britain, 6-4, for gold in the compound men open category. The afternoon session ended with Stepanida ARTAKHINOVA of Russia upsetting the hometown favourite Danielle BROWN, 6-4, in compound women open. LOCOG’s Para Archery Coordinator Tim JACKSON noted: "When a 10 was needed, a 10 was shot. Weather has not impacted performance one bit." Chris MARCH, LOCOG Archery Competition Manager, commented: "Testing all of the operation components has been great. Having athletes, volunteers, officials and all the different support areas here has been invaluable." Sheri RHODES World Archery Para-Archery Committee
