Quotes of the Practice Day
Ogden
World Cup Final The seven archers with the most World Cup points in each category will go to the World Cup Final. We have met some of them.
Recurve Men
Brady Ellison (USA)
I have a good amount of points since I won the first one and I’m shooting really well here so I should pickup more points to get a guaranteed spot in the World Cup Final.
Juan Rodriguez (ESP)
Right now I’m in 8th and hopefully I can come between 5th and 6th and make it to the World Cup Final.
Chu Sian Cheng (MAS)
No one from Malaysia has ever been to the world cup final so hopefully I can make it.
Jeff Henckels (LUX)
I haven’t even thought about the World Cup Final. I just want to have a good practice for the Olympics. If I make it great but it’s not really my focus.
Recurve Women
Miranda Leek (USA)
If I have a good performance here I have a good chance of making it to the World Cup Final.
I’ve been working hard and I have a strong team behind me. I have all the tools and support I need to make the World Cup Final.
Compound Men
Paul Titscher (GER)
I hope I get to go to the World Cup Final. I’m in the 5th right now but it’s very close with the other guys. My goal for Ogden is to make it to the quarterfinals and hopefully that’s enough to make it to Tokyo.
Braden Gellenthien (USA)
I’ve had two really good events leading up to Ogden. So as long as I can score a couple more points here I should have my spot for the World Cup Final.
Compound Women
Dianne Watson (USA)
I feel pretty good but there’s a lot of good archers here so we’ll see who shoots well and who has little bit of luck this week.
Danielle Brown (GBR)
I haven’t really thought about qualifying for the World Cup Final. I’m concentrating on the Paralympics right now. I’ve been training for it for four years so it has all my focus.
Olympic Qualification
Teams that have not qualified for the Olympics yet will compete for the last three team spots, in each gender, available. How do the athletes feel about it?
Recurve Men
Taylor Worth (AUS)
There’s a lot of good teams fighting for their spots but I’m fairly confident we can get ours.
Crispin Duenas (CAN)
I think our chances of qualifying the last two spots are very high. We have a very good team this year and given who the other competitors are I think we have a good chance.
Juan Rodriguez (ESP)
We are a strong team and I think we will make it.
Recurve Women
Norma Strasser – Team Manager (SUI)
I feel very confident for the archers. They’ve been training hard to get their Olympic spot.
It’s going to be tough so they’re going to have to give it all they can.
Miguel Flores - Coach (MEX)
We have confidence in our team. We’ve worked hard and it’s just a matter of time before we find out if our hard work pays off.
Everybody here has good preparation and they’re all skilled archers. It will be a close competition.
Mexico team selection procedure is based on various international tournaments. Currently there are 4 men competing for the 3 Olympic spots. The Men’s head coach will choose the team.
