Passing of Bhutanese Archery Federation's Secretary General
Lausanne
Pema NAMGYEL, 42, was by profession a civil engineer employed by the Government. He was the father of three children aged 3, 9 and 11. He had served BAF for a total of five years, first as the Assistant General Secretary, and then as the General Secretary since 2010. He came from a small village in Eastern Bhutan known as Gomdar which is in the Samdrup Dzongkhar district. He was famous in Bhutan for being one of the top archers shooting at the traditional distance of 145m with compound bows, and had been a team member in several national championships' winning teams (traditional Bhutanese archery being a team sport). Pema NAMGYEL brought his passion for archery in his capacity as BAF General Secretary and worked very hard and diligently to improve the conditions for Olympic archery in Bhutan. He will be missed dearly. The World Archery family sends its sincere condolences to Pema NAMGYEL's family and friends, and to the Bhutanese Archery Federation. World Archery Communication
