Quotes of the Recurve Finals

Recurve Men   Luis ALVAREZ (MEX) – 1st place You said it was intense but you made the match look easy. It was pretty intense it was not easy. I think I controlled myself well.   Were you surprised you won 6-0? I was surprised. I was expecting a much closer match against such an opponent like Larry GODFREY. He has a lot of experience and he has already competed at the Olympic Games. He will represent Great Britain at home in London. On my side, I am just doing my best to get there.   Larry GODFREY (GBR) – 2nd place (and 3rd in teams) How did you feel about your individual match? I knew it was going to be a tough match especially with the conditions today. I was quite happy to finish second in the World Cup.   How do you feel about the GBR team going into the Olympics? We feel strong. Counting teams and individuals, we’ve been three times on the final field in two World Cups this season, so it should be good.   Recurve Men Team   Brady ELLISON (USA) - 1st place You had a tough match today explain what it was like? It was a good match. We were all getting good shots off but the conditions were really tough. We all shot well and ended up with the win.   Jacob WUKIE (USA) - 1st place The ten you shot in the shoot-off was the game changer. How did it feel? I was fortunate to get the 10 but it was the team that got the win.   Rahul BANERJEE (IND) – 2nd place With such a close match in the final today, it seems that men’s team event in London could be anyone’s game? First of all I am so happy that we qualified for the Games at the last team qualifications earlier this week. It is a dream comes true for me! You can’t imagine how I felt at the beginning of the week when my bow didn’t arrive! I had to borrow bits and pieces here and there, to be able to shoot this Olympic qualifier. Moreover, we missed the Games in 2008, despite being quite a good team in the world since the start of the World Cup in 2006. We had a bad string in 2007 and again, although we started well in 2011, we struggled just a wrong time: during the world championships which was the main qualifier for the Games.   Since last July we worked so hard and we did have some trouble to come back on top. I think now with the silver in Antalya and now the shoot-off for the gold, we are on the right track. In the shoot-off, Tarundeep (RAI) had problem with his clicker. Still he shot a 9 in a hurry and I had only 11 seconds to shoot. I knew I could shoot a good arrow and I am happy with my 9. However it was not enough against this American’s team!   And yes, I am looking forward to an exciting men’s team competition at the Games! Since it will be on the first Saturday, it could set a wonderful tone for the Games!   Recurve Mixed Team   Brady ELLISON (USA) – 1st place with Jennifer NICHOLS Was it hard having back to back matches? It’s not too hard. The hard thing for me was the wind. I was fortunate to shoot well and of course Jenny had my back.   Recurve Women   Kristina TIMOFEEVA (RUS) – 1st place Was this the greatest day you’ve had in archery? This is the second best or equal to the best day because I also got first place at the indoor world championships in Las Vegas.   World Archery Communication
