Olympic Solidarity - Development of the National Structure Programme
The nominated expert for this programme was Lionel TORRES (FRA), a very well know archer who was on the international scene from 1993 to 2002. Based on the programme approved by Olympic Solidarity, Lionel TORRES worked with the coaches and their archers of four Argentinian regions: Buenos Aires, Bahia Blanca, Mendoza and Santa Fe. The sessions were divided into theoretical and practical which covered the following areas: Ø The fundamental techniques Ø The archery structure in France Ø Bow tuning Ø Training programme Ø Competition planning Ø Shooting strategy During the practical sessions with the archers, the first exercise was to correct their posture. This allowed the enhancement of their body to better stand the weight of the equipment and also to improve their shooting. This also enabled them to improve their posture and in order to preserve the body energy so that they would not get tired to fast during the practical sessions. The archers immediately took into consideration the posture corrections and their performance results improved immediately.
The expert added that the work accomplished by the coaches is outstanding and brilliant. The posture correction given to the archers has been a great success. The expert also mentioned that the beginners’ to advanced archers have a good technical level. The archery basics taught are very efficient. The Argentinian educational programme is very productive and strong. In the near future there will be results to confirm the progress made by the coaches and archers, hopefully, before the expert's next trip planned from 7 October to 4 November 2012. The programme was well understood by the participants. The archery family in Argentina was very warm and friendly. The expert also mentioned that the working conditions and atmosphere were excellent. Jorge E. CABRERA, President of FATARCO Technical Committee said: "I believe that this project will contribute to the development of archery in our country and I would like to thank the Olympic Solidarity, the Argentina National Olympic Committee and World Archery, mainly Pascal COLMAIRE."
