Archery GB's National Series has four new champions
Oxford
Recurve Men's podium

On a terrific day of archery at Christ Church Meadow, Oxford, GODFREY ended the three year men's recurve winning run of Simon TERRY, while WESTMAN beat her elder sister Rikki BINGHAM in the women's compound final! WESTMAN then cheered on her fiancé RAVENSCROFTto victory in the men's compound final, while WILLIAMSON beat both the defending champion and the 2010 winner to take the women's recurve title. GODFREY's victory in the recurve men's event now sets him up well for next month's World Cup Grand Final in Tokyo, having qualified for the first time. He beat Tom BARBER in the semifinals, setting up a showdown with TERRY, who defeated George HARDING. TERRY had won the National Series title three years running since the event was launched in 2009, but GODFREY snuffed out his international colleague's aspiration for a fourth championship as he won the final 6-2. HARDING—in his first National Series Grand Final—beat BARBER to take the bronze medal. In recurve women, WILLIAMSON was a 6-0 winner over defending champion Charlotte BURGESS. And after Naomi FOLKARD fought off the determined challenge of 16 year Becky MARTIN, WILLIAMSON then took the title with a 7-3 victory in the final, while BURGESS beat MARTIN 6-4 to take the bronze. The compound women had two Grand Final first timers and the guarantee of a new champion. Of the two first timers, Pauline BURFITT lost the day's opening match to BINGHAM, while WESTMAN made sure the occasion never got to her as she halted the hopes of Andrea GALES. It meant the final would be contested by two sisters—with ChristieWESTMAN seeing off her sister Rikki to take the championship 138-134. GALES beat BURFITT to secure the bronze medal. With a gold medal to her credit, WESTMAN then cheered on fiancé RAVENSCROFT to the compound men's title to make it a gold medal double. RAVENSCROFT beat Liam GRIMWOOD to reach the final, where he faced Duncan BUSBY, who defeated Grand Final newcomer Chris BELL. RAVENSCROFT took his first National Series final with a 147-144 victory over the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, while BELL defeated GRIMWOOD to win the bronze medal.
