Successful Judges Seminar in Cotonou, Benin
Lausanne
Ahmed KOURA with the new national judges
The seminar was funded by the Federation of African Archery (FAA) and organised by the Benin Archery Federation. The objective of the seminar was to train the new judges. The aim of FAA is to qualify national judges in every World Archery Member Association in Africa. The seminar welcomed 13 participants (eight men and five women) from four countries: Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Togo. Most of them were passionate, interactive and willing to learn. After a three-day intensive session, all participants had the opportunity to gain practical experience and officiated as judges in the fourth edition of the International Archery Tournament of Central and Western Zone of Africa (TIZOCATA) which was held in Cotonou from 30 August to 1 September 2012, under the supervision of Ahmed KOURA, Chairperson of Judges and seminar instructor. Feedback about judges was amazing from all archers, officials and spectators. Now Africa already has at least one competent judge in four new countries. They are really qualified and promising candidates to play a vital role in judging and organising archery tournaments in African countries.
