Athlete of the Week: KIM Woojin (KOR)
Lausanne

KIM Woojin benefited from the experience of the Edinburgh 2010 World Cup Final (5th place) and Turin 2011 World Championships (1st). In Tokyo, shooting in extremely treacherous conditions, he finished the 2012 season in style, winning the World Cup Final in heavy rains and under the eyes of the Japanese royal family! The 20-year-old Korean archer had to go through shoot-offs to win both the semifinal and the gold medal match. He faced the 18-year-old French Gael PREVOST in the semifinal, for a victory 10-9. He then barely outscored the USA’s Brady ELLISON, defending champion of the 2010 and 2011 editions, 8 to 8. After his non-selection for the Olympic Games (!), a fact that shows the depth of the Korean team, it was the perfect way to end the year for KIM Woojin!
