Turkish Minister of Sports visits the World Archery Office
Lausanne

Following a 45-minute courtesy visit, Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER presented Mr. KILIC with an elegant watch from World Archery sponsor Longines. Turkey plays a special role in the history of archery. While Turkish archers have recorded some extraordinary length of arrow shots in a distant past, Turkey has been a very active archery country in the recent history. It is the only country to have hosted a stage of the Archery World Cup every year since the competition was launched in 2006. Antalya will host its 8th World Cup stage in 2013. Turkey also organised several world or continental archery championships, and its capital Istanbul successfully hosted the Archery World Cup Final in 2011 on the shores of the Bosphorus strait linking Europe and Asia. Istanbul is now bidding for the 2020 Olympic Games. The Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports has been a great supporter of archery over the years through the state lottery Spor Toto.
