In the women’s event, SARTORI, team world champion, gave Italy its second gold medal of these Games after beating young Spaniard, Mirene ETXEBERRIA in the final. Imperishable, Natalia VALLEVA attained a bronze medal with her victory earlier over Begül LOKLUOGLU (TUR).
The men’s final was taken to a shoot-off where Spaniard FERNANDEZ beat Italian team Olympic champion Michele FRANGILLI. In the bronze medal match, another Italian, Alberto ZAGAMI, overcame Yagiz YILMAZ (TUR), annihilating Turkey’s medal hopes.
With this success Italy wins the archery medal table over Spain, with two gold medals, one silver and three bronze. Guendalina SARTORI leaves Turkey as the most successful athlete with two gold medals.
