Archery at 7th UNOSDP Youth Leadership Programme in Gwangju University, Korea

The camp took place from 22 August to 3 September 2013 in Gwangju, Korea. The Korean Sally PARK (left on the photo) was the archery expert and organiser of the event along with the great support of Gwangju Women’s University. The camp gathered 35 participants from all over the world and was a great success.

The archery event took place at the Gwangju Women’s University. KI Bo Bae (KOR), Olympic Champion and graduate of the university, made an archery demonstration, shooting some arrows. The participants were first given a 15-minutes safety introduction, then shot at five metres and concluded with a team match. The winners received prizes and the event was highly appreciated by all the participants.

Bhutan's Younten ZANGMO (right on the photo) and Nepal's Anita GURUNG were granted a scholarship to attend the camp and had the opportunity to learn leadership skills in order to further develop archery in their communities.

The concept of the UNOSDP Youth Leadership Programme is to support young people around the world by providing them with opportunities to engage in sport as a means of contributing to the development of the society.

World Archery would like to thank all parties involved for making archery successful at this event and contributing to its development to the future generations.
