KIM Yu Mi equals ranking round world record, during first two qualifications sessions in Telford
KIM’s teammate from Korean archery team LH, defending Indoor World Cup champion JEON Sungeun, was ahead for most of the 60-arrow round but lost ground over the final stretch. The team will be happy, though, as all five archers (all recurve women) finished with more than 580 points – and are all but guaranteed to survive the cut tomorrow, since they occupy five of the top six seeds at this point.
There are still archers yet to shoot qualification, with two more full sessions tomorrow, but some of today’s top scores will be tough to beat. USA recurve man Brady ELLISON recorded his best international indoor performance of this season with an impressive 593, and his compound compatriot Chance BEAUBOEUF had 596.
Two-time world champion Albina LOGINOVA is the early favourite in the compound women’s competition. The Russian athlete, who lost to Erika JONES (USA) in stage two’s gold medal match, scored 580 in qualification.

Singapore winner for the third year in a row in 2013, Reo WILDE (USA) will shoot his ranking round in Telford tomorrow – as will reigning compound Indoor Archery World Cup Final Champions Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA) and Andrea GALES (GBR).
Jean Charles Valladont, the French recurve man who currently leads this season’s Indoor Archery World Cup rankings after a second place in Marrakesh and victory in Singapore, will take to the shooting line at 8h30 local time (GMT) tomorrow.
Competition continues in Telford with qualifications sessions three and four, before the field is cut to the top 32 in each discipline for eliminations in the evening of Saturday 24 January 2014. Finals will be held on Sunday, and live broadcast online on Archery TV.
