The courses were held under the expertise of Carlos FREITAS (POR) and gathered 40 coaches from all around the island. The level 1 course took place from 8-14 February 2014 and level 2 from 16-22 February.
The President of the Mauritius National Olympic Committee Mr Philip Hao Thyn VOON HA SUN and Minister of Sports Mr Devanand RITOO took part in the practical sessions and shot a few arrows.
The courses were a combination of theoretical and practical sessions with the support of the World Archery coaches’ manual level I & II. The expert Carlos FREITAS gave the participants some technical advice, mainly on recurve, but also some on compound division. The coaches also received equipment in order to further develop archery in their clubs, schools and community.
Both participants and the expert were satisfied with the outcome of this great project as these courses will contribute to the development of archery.
