Medal table monopoly: Nimes team finals

Indoors, Ukraine’s recurves are scary! The men’s and women’s teams both won their gold medal matches, both in convincing fashions. Ukraine now tops the medal table in Nimes. The USA compounders are, without a doubt, also dominant… But they can be beaten, as Linda OCHOA and her Mexican women proved.

France has a bright future, especially when its experienced archers are taking the time to mentor the next generation of the national team.

Turkey’s recurve junior men are sportsmen. There was a scoring mistake, but they came back out onto the field to shoot-off for the bronze medal they’d just been wrongly awarded. They won the medal anyway.

Sjef VAN DEN BERG has mettle. In a shoot-off for men’s recurve bronze, he had little time to shoot the Dutch last arrow. Rick VAN DER VEN was aiming for ages before he pounded the 10. Sjef needed a 10 to win, 9 to draw. He let go with the timer on two seconds, and looked casual as his shaft hit the middle.
