ELLISON defends Shanghai mixed team title with BROWN

“I wasn’t very nervous at all shooting my first World Cup final,” said 19-year-old rookie recurve Mackenzie BROWN. “I just went out, had a lot of fun and shot good shots with Brady.”

Two-time World Cup champ Brady ELLISON and BROWN, who train together at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, make a formidable USA mixed team.

They outshot former world silver medallists Aida ROMAN and Juan Rene SERRANO at every stage of the mixed team final, now decided using a new set-system format. Pairs shoot sets of four arrows – two each – with the highest scoring mixed team each set receiving two set points (or one point each for a draw). The winner is the first pair to collect five set points.

British archers Naomi FOLKARD and Larry GODFREY, used to shooting the mixed team together, beat Chinese Taipei to bronze. GODFREY was the world bronze medallist in this event in 2011.
