United Arab Emirates hold first archery coaching course
It’s the first coaching course ever run by the fledging federation. Dr Soha AHMED taught theoretical and practice sessions to a group of forty in Dubai’s Centre for Leadership Development from 13 to 18 April this year.
The intensive programme produced 10 level two candidates and left the UAE Archery Association’s chairman Maj Gen Dr Obaid AL KETBI and vice president Mr Walid ALSHAMSI impressed.
During Ramadan, the federation will run a second coaching course alongside an archery competition at the Festival of Sports Activities organised by the Police Officers Club in Dubai. A number of other coaching and judging courses are planned.
The completion of the first training marks an emphasised focus on developing technical expertise throughout the Emirates, to support the sport’s growth and federation’s drive to become an active member association of World Archery.
