14 to watch at Antalya: seven recurves with medal potential

Check the afternoon’s piece on the seven compound archers worth keeping a really close eye on at Antalya this year.

1) LEE Seungyun (KOR): The man OH Jin Hyek can’t seem to beat. He’s won the last two internationals he’s shot at… will it be three in a row?

2) Khairul Anuar MOHAMAD (MAS): Only non-Korean to make Medellin recurve men’s final four. Good track record and possibly the most dangerous Asian archer outside of the men in white.

3) Anastasia PAVLOVA (UKR): Ukraine’s hope for a recurve qualifier at Lausanne likely rests on PAVLOVA’s shoulders. She still needs more ranking points to be in with a chance. (Also worth watching is the nation’s new-look men’s team.)

4) Marcus DALMEIDA (BRA): Rio host country progeny DALMEIDA experienced his first finals with Sarah NIKITIN in Medellin mixed team. She’s recovering from a nasty illness right now, so not at Antalya, leaving DALMEIDA to go it alone?

5, 6 and 7) The German girls… Karina WINTER, Elena RICHTER and Lisa UNRUH: Elena leads the World Cup ranking table heading into Antalya, Lisa’s fourth and Karina sits at 13. The trio won team gold in Medellin and have been one of the most impressive groups so far this season.

Competition at the third 2014 Archery World Cup stage in Antalya starts tomorrow. Check event news, and visit World Archery’s Facebook page and @worldarchery on Twitter for coverage.
