Nanjing boys’ second round: eight matches in eight pictures

1) LEE (KOR) versus ZOLKEPELI (MAS): Korea’s LEE shot two sets of 29 and one of 28 – and it was more than enough to cruise into the quarterfinals.

2) FABER (SUI) versus HAN (TPE): Florian holds Switzerland’s national record for the ranking round at 70 metres. In his Nanjing second round match, at 60 metres, he averaged 27.5 points a set on route to victory.

3) TAPIA (MEX) versus GAZOZ (TUR): Turkey’s Mete GAZOZ knocked out a seven-seed higher opponent in TAPIA, 7-3. Mete finished with a 30.

4) RODRIGUEZ SAS (ARG) versus VAN TONGEREN (NED): Both shot three eights, but RODRIGUEZ shot two sevens as well. Dutchman Jan won.

5) DALMEIDA (BRA) versus MARTENS (BEL): Rick MARTENS made things difficult for Marcus, starting with a perfect set. The Brazilian was more consistent, though, keeping his set scores at 28 and above – and winning the long way.

6) DENNY (GBR) versus KOENIG (FRA): France’s Thomas KOENIG started poorly, two 26-point sets putting him 4-0 down. Brad DENNY had a disastrous third end – 7-5-10 – but followed it up with a 10-10-10 to seal the win.

7) MAYR (GER) versus MUTO (JPN): Giant German MAYR averaged nine points an arrow, and shot 10 of his 12 there. Hiroka MUTO was better from start to finish.

8) SZAFRAM (POL) versus VERMA (IND): Marek SZAFRAM leaked too many arrows into the red to kep up with Atul VERMA.
