London 2012 Swiss archery commentator Tania FORNI dies after battle with cancer

Former Swiss international archer Tania FORNI passed away yesterday after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 44 years old.

Tania was a world championship silver medallist in the compound women’s division at the World Archery 3D Championships at Genoa 2005. Most recently, she was known in Switzerland as the commentator for national television at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

She was also European 3D Champion in 2000, represented Switzerland at the World Games and the Ulsan 2009 World Archery Championships, among other major events.

“Her courage throughout her illness has been an inspiration,” said World Archery Secretary General Tom DIELEN.

“Her contribution to the Swiss television coverage of the 2012 Games made archery one of the most viewed events of the London Olympics in Switzerland. The archery world has lost a great person.”

World Archery sends its condolences to Tania’s husband Paul and the rest of her family.
